Janie is acknowledged as one of Britain's most talented and versatile actresses. Her achievements range from modern comedy to Shakespeare, contemporary drama to musical and opera. Janie has recently filmed the role Emma Lavenham in the BBC's adaptation of PD James' 'Death in Holy Orders' (the latest of the Adam Dalgliesh books) to be transmitted in the Spring of 2003.Early in 2003, Janie played the role of Nurse Fay in Premiere production of 'Anyone can Whistle' at the Bridewell Theatre.She presented her one woman show at the prestigious "Diva at the Donmar 2002" and previously, had returned to the West End reprising her critically acclaimed role of 'Edythe Herbert' in the Gershwin musical 'My One and Only'. The Show received its UK Premiere at the prestigious 2001 Chichester Festival Theatre Season and later transferred to the Piccadilly Theatre, again to wonderful reviews and much praise. As the season's guest lead at Chichester, Janie also demonstrated her classical range, earning high praise for her performance as 'Masha' in Chekov's 'Three Sisters'.Prior to Chichester she played the lead 'Lydochka' in Opera North's production of 'Paradise Moscow', by Dimitri Shostokovitch in London and throughout England.In 2000 Janie appeared in the lead role 'Jacie Triplethree' in the Alan Ayckbourn comedy 'Comic Potential' at the Lyric Theatre (West End). This was a truly virtuoso performance for which she was rewarded with the three most prestigious drama awards British Theatre can bestow an achievement only ever matched by Dame Judy Dench:

In 1993 she was awarded the Olivier for her performance as 'Carrie Pipperidge' in Nicholas Hytner's production of 'Carousel' at the Royal National Theatre.
In 1992 she was nominated for Best Actress in the Time Out Awards for her performance as Jenny in Alan Ayckbourn and Paul Todd's compilation Between The Lines.Previous work in plays written and directed by Sir Alan Ayckbourn includes, Dreams From A Summerhouse, Comic Potential, and, House And Garden, originating the roles of Amanda, Jacie and Joanna respectively. Alan Ayckbourn also directed her own show, which began its life at the RNT Studio, with songs by Britain's hottest new song writers.
