Julie-Alanah trained at the Guildford School of Acting, where she won the Margaret Veale Award for singing. During her time there she enjoyed parts as diverse as Catherine in Pippin, and the title role in the Rock Opera Ophelia. She has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival with National Youth Music Theatre, playing Linda English in Pal Joey. Her other work includes Jacky Coryton in Hay Fever, and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, which she also choreographed.
Whilst still at drama school she was invited to perform in the national tour of Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca. She subsequently played the leading role of Lady Jacqueline in the phenomenally successful number one national tour of Meand My Girl opposite to Gary Wilmot.
Most recently she appeared in her first film, Miss Monday, playing city banker Marianne. Television work includes the BBC's Call Up the Stars. Prior to joining the cast of Disney's Beauty and the Beast Julie-Alanah Brighten was playing the Rose Seller in Oliver! at the London Palladium.
Julie starred opposite Oliver Tobias in the musical 'La Cava' at the Victoria Place Theatre / Piccadilly Theatre.
